Things to do in Auckland
Auckland Information - Hotels
Auckland is the New Zealand's largest city and has the country gateway airport on the North Island. The city is set on 48 dormant volcanic cones and between two harbors, the Waitemata and the Manukau.
Visit Mount Eden, a dormant volcano whose summit offers excellent panoramic views of the city and harbors. From this fantastic vantage point, see evidence of Auckland's volcanic history, including the youngest volcano of Rangitoto Island at the entrance to the Waitemata Harbor.
Visit Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World and experience King and Gentoo Penguins then travel through the Underwater World and come face-to-face with stingrays and sharks. A yacht cruise to see the harbour bridge, historic Devonport and the NZ Naval base should be part of any trip to Auckland.
Go to the top of 1,000 feet (328 meter) Sky Tower for a different view, visit the Auckland Zoo and explore regional parks or have dinner on a Waitemata Harbor Yacht Cruise.
Take a day trip to Great Barrier Island or Five Day Tour from Auckland to Christchurch with stops at Waitomo Caves to see the glowworms, Rotorua and Wellington on the North Island. The Inter Islander Ferry across Cook Strait to the South Island. The TranzCoastal train to Kaikoura and whale watching before going to Christchurch.
