Things to do in San Francisco
San Francisco is located in northern California adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. San Francisco is a hilly city with high points almost 1,000 feet above sea level only a few blocks from the ocean.
Ride the famous cable cars up and over the hills. The most popular cable car route connects Market Street with the Fisherman's Wharf area, home to several tourist attractions and many fine restaurants.
One of the most popular sights in San Francisco is Alcatraz. The famous prison is located on an island in the Bay. Alcatraz tickets regularly sells out weeks in advance. Book before you leave home to avoid disappointment.
Yosemite National Park and the giant Sequoia trees are a half-day drive away. Muir Woods, home of tall redwood trees, is closer just across the Golden Gate Bridge.
